Imaginary Landscape LLC is an award-winning web development and design company based in the Chicago area, specializing in various technologies. They are seeking a Contract Web Designer - UI/UX Specialist to design intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging user interfaces for websites and web applications while collaborating closely with developers to ensure design feasibility and quality implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Design intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging user interfaces for websites and web applications
- Focus on excellent UI/UX and Mobile First Design
- Create design only projects, design + development projects, and dynamic responses to RFP's
- Participate in potential client sales meetings
- Create wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups
- Translate client requirements and brand guidelines into effective digital designs
- Collaborate closely with developers to ensure design feasibility and implementation quality
- Conduct basic user research and usability reviews
- Refine layouts for responsiveness across devices
- Iterate on designs based on stakeholder and user feedback
- Prepare design assets and maintain design systems or style guides
- Participate in client meetings to present and explain design decisions
Requirements:
- Strong Web Design and Responsive Web Design skills, with a portfolio demonstrating modern, user-centered websites
- Graphic Design and Graphics skills for creating visual assets, icons, and layout compositions that support brand identity
- Foundational Front-End Development skills to collaborate effectively with developers and understand implementation constraints
- Experience with UI/UX tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar design platforms
- Understanding of UX principles, accessibility standards, and best practices for designing responsive, cross-browser experiences
- Ability to translate business and user requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and polished visual designs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present design rationales to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Relevant experience in web or product design; a degree or formal training in Design, HCI, or a related field is beneficial but not required
