Manager, Software Engineering - AI Product

Figma is a company dedicated to making design accessible to all, and they are seeking a dynamic manager to lead a team focused on AI capabilities. The role involves collaborating with various teams to define strategy, drive innovation, and foster a culture of diversity and inclusion while building and advancing Figma's AI products.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and grow a diverse team of engineers building and advancing Figma’s AI capabilities across core products
• Partner closely with Product, Engineering, AI Research, and Data Science to define strategy and drive a clear roadmap for AI-powered experiences
• Hire, mentor, and retain exceptional engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and thoughtful risk-taking
• Drive 0→1 innovation by identifying opportunities and applying emerging AI technologies to meaningfully improve the user experience
• Champion Figma’s commitment to diversity and inclusion by actively contributing to equitable hiring practices, team development, and cross-company initiatives

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience hiring, leading, and developing high-performing engineering teams
• Proven experience building and scaling AI-powered product capabilities, ideally in fast-paced, high-growth environments
• Demonstrated track record of driving 0→1 product development, with the ability to translate ambiguous ideas into impactful, production-ready features
• Strong ability to build and operate fast-moving teams that balance innovation with execution
• Genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies and their application to user-facing products
• Knowledge and experience in generative AI, RAG, the fine-tuning process and its application to creative products
• Experience digging into product analytics and data yourself to help create new opportunities or investment areas for your team
