Engineering Manager, Production Engineering

Attentive is the AI marketing platform for 1:1 personalization redefining the way brands and people connect. The Engineering Manager, Production Engineering will lead a team focused on delivering a reliable and scalable platform while mentoring engineers and influencing technical roadmaps across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and Manage a Team: Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of production engineers. Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support career growth. Craft the team’s roadmap: Align with organizational goals, define vision and work with stakeholders across the organization
• Raise the Engineering Bar: We are not looking for a pure people manager. You will stay close to the technical and operational details, review designs critically, challenge assumptions, unblock execution, and ensure the team consistently delivers high-quality outcomes. You should be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and contributing directly when needed
• Design and Deliver High-Impact Solutions: Design and implement systems that enhance reliability, observability, traceability, and incident management, ensuring the platform scales effectively. Remain hands-on with coding and technical design
• Drive Strategic Initiatives with Urgency: Own ambiguous, cross-functional efforts end-to-end, break down complex problems into executable plans, identify risks early, and ensure consistent, high-quality execution at pace
• Partner Across Teams: Collaborate with engineers from AI/ML, Data, Platform, and Product teams to develop best-in-class services
• Establish Standards and Best Practices: Define and enforce production standards, processes, and tools to ensure operational excellence
• Mentorship and Accountability: Coach engineers through direct feedback, high standards, and hands-on support while fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and operational excellence
• Innovate and Inspire: Drive continuous improvement by bringing creative ideas and challenging the status quo

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in Production Engineering, Backend Engineering, SRE, DevOps or similar role
• 2+ years of experience in a management or team lead role
• Proficient Problem-Solver: Strong ownership mindset with exceptional attention to detail; proactively identifies issues, follows through on commitments, and drives work to completion with minimal oversight
• Thrives in high-urgency, fast-paced environments and is energized by direct collaboration, rapid feedback loops, and high expectations
• Strong coding ability in at least one language (e.g., Golang, Python, Java, Typescript) with the capability to solve complex issues through code
• Track Record of Success: Demonstrated experience delivering medium to large-scale projects that drive meaningful improvements in platform reliability and scalability
• Reliability Expertise: Deep understanding of production reliability concepts, including SLIs, SLOs, and incident management
• Strong Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
• High-Execution Environment Experience: Proven ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, high-growth environments where prioritization, urgency, and execution quality are critical
