Acorns is a financial wellness app that helps everyday people and families save and invest money for the long term. They are seeking a Staff Product Manager to lead the product strategy for Ask Acorns, their AI-powered assistant, focusing on enhancing financial wellness through AI-driven solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Product Strategy: Define how Ask Acorns evolves as an intelligence layer across both the Acorns and Acorns Early brands over time
- Own the Roadmap: Define and drive the Ask Acorns roadmap, partnering with product teams across Financial Planning, Financial Products, Families, and Growth to align priorities, surface dependencies, and ensure capabilities are built and sequenced in service of the broader product strategy
- Shape the Experience: Partner with design to craft Ask Acorns' voice, tone, and persona, and how it handles the edges of what it can help with
- Define Skills and Capabilities: Build the strategy for Ask Acorns' skills and capabilities, including memory and longitudinal understanding, proactivity, conversation threading, and the guardrails that govern experience and safety
- Set the Quality Bar: Partner with engineering to establish the quality and performance bar for Ask Acorns, including latency, reliability, and the infrastructure that connects Ask Acorns to the broader Acorns product ecosystem
- Measure and Improve: Define success metrics and eval infrastructure, partner with research to build customer feedback loops, and use conversation transcripts and system instrumentation to detect issues and improve over time
- Evolve How We Work: Drive new ways of working across teams to improve the quality and speed of AI product development
Requirements:
- 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years building and shipping conversational AI products
- Ability to define a clear product strategy and translate it into a roadmap that balances near-term execution with strategic bets, moving quickly and adapting as the AI landscape evolves
- Heart-led and customer-obsessed, bringing genuine empathy to the work and a deep curiosity about the financial lives, hopes, and fears of everyday Americans
- Bias for speed and action; able to make decisions with incomplete information and move quickly while maintaining the rigor a regulated environment requires
- Deep understanding of conversational AI systems, including prompt engineering, memory, guardrails, and evals, with enough technical fluency to ask the right questions and make informed tradeoffs with engineering
- Sharp data instincts: knowing which metrics matter, analyzing performance with depth, and using data to drive decisions and hold teams accountable
- Strong executive presence and communication skills, including the ability to align teams, build organizational buy-in, and present effectively to senior leadership and the CEO
- Hands-on with AI tools, using them actively to prototype ideas, stress-test assumptions, and accelerate the product development process
- Hunger to deliver game-changing products
- Exceptional drive and precision in delivery
- A belief that your work is tied to your life's mission
- Optimistic about the potential of societal change
