Shift Details
The Hiring Manager is open to candidates who can work exclusively night shifts.
Night Shift Schedule
- 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
- Rotation:
- 2 Days On / 2 Days Off
- 3 Days On / 3 Days Off
There is typically an adhoc shutdown period around Christmas (approximately 3 weeks) during which the contractor would not be expected to work. Compensation during this period would remain at the standard rate.
Experience Required
- 4 5+ years of relevant Automation Engineering experience
- Prior experience working rotational or 12-hour shifts is highly preferred
- Life Sciences Manufacturing experience is mandatory

- Hands-on experience with PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens) and DeltaV
- Strong Life Sciences experience including Change Control, SOPs, and Documentation

Job Description
The Senior Automation Engineer will support automation systems within a Life Sciences manufacturing environment. The role requires hands-on expertise in PLCs, DeltaV, robotics, and manufacturing automation systems, with a strong focus on troubleshooting, system maintenance, compliance, and operational support.
The ideal candidate will have prior shift-based manufacturing support experience and possess strong problem-solving capabilities in regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, and DeltaV systems
- Support and upgrade existing automation and control systems
- Provide technical support to engineers, manufacturing teams, and stakeholders
- Monitor and analyze automation system performance
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Follow best practices and procedures related to automation system maintenance
- Handle Change Control processes and maintain technical documentation
- Create and update design specifications, SOPs, user manuals, and operational procedures
- Participate in project coordination and automation initiatives
- Support interfaces between Data Historians, MES, and Control Systems
- Maintain and enhance troubleshooting knowledge databases and documentation
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience with:
- Allen Bradley PLCs
- Siemens PLCs
- DeltaV Systems
- SCADA Systems
- Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical Manufacturing experience
- Experience supporting automation in regulated manufacturing environments
- Ability to work 12-hour rotational night shifts
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting robotics and manufacturing automation platforms
- Prior client-facing support experience
- Knowledge of MES and Data Historian integrations
- Experience with GMP-regulated environments and compliance standards
