Cengage is seeking a Growth Marketing Director to drive sustainable revenue growth through data-driven acquisition, retention, and lifecycle marketing strategies. The role involves developing comprehensive growth marketing strategies, leading multi-channel acquisition efforts, and building lifecycle marketing programs to optimize customer engagement and retention.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive growth marketing strategy aligned to business goals
- Identify and prioritize high‑impact growth opportunities across the customer lifecycle
- Own growth objectives and key results, forecasting, and performance reporting
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with internal partners within Marketing, Portfolio, Product, Sales, etc
- Lead agencies and external partners as needed
- Lead multi‑channel acquisition strategies (paid media, SEO, content, partnerships, referrals, ABM, etc.)
- Optimize CAC, LTV, and conversion rates through experimentation and testing
- Oversee campaign planning, execution, and optimization
- Build and scale lifecycle marketing programs (onboarding, engagement, upsell, retention)
- Partner with Product and Customer teams to improve activation and reduce churn
- Leverage marketing automation and personalization
- Establish a strong experimentation culture (A/B testing, cohort analysis, funnel optimization)
- Use data and insights to inform decisions and continuously improve performance
- Partner with Analytics to define metrics, dashboards, and attribution models
Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in growth, performance, or digital marketing
- Proven track record of driving measurable growth in revenue, users, or pipeline
- Deep expertise in paid acquisition channels (Google, Meta, etc.)
- Strong analytical mindset with hands‑on experience using data to inform decisions
- Experience with experimentation frameworks and marketing technology stacks
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and partner management skills
- Experience in B2B / B2C / SaaS / e‑commerce
- Familiarity with CRM, marketing automation, and analytics tools
- Experience scaling growth in a fast‑paced or high‑growth environment
