The Corporate Accounting & Reporting Analyst will provide advanced accounting and financial analysis to support accurate financial reporting and serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Accumulates, calculates, coordinates, and records monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting estimates and amortizations, for Everus operating companies, to ensure proper accounting and allocation: including book depreciation, financial forecast updates, current and deferred income taxes, central cash activity and bank reconciliations
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual internal statements and financial reports: accumulate data, analyze income, cash flows and margin statements, research and write concise and accurate explanations of variances and changes, prepare associated supporting documents
- Prepares analyses, reports and data requests for management, internal departments, governmental agencies, and external entities
- Designs, completes, and maintains spreadsheets and databases necessary for assigned duties. Assists in the maintenance, enhancement, and implementation of accounting and financial application software
- Complies with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley standards; calculation, accumulation and reporting of financial data relating to new or existing FASBs or other accounting pronouncements
- Accumulates, investigates, and interprets data necessary to calculate a potential acquisition's valuation and forecast model to analyze and discuss the acquisition's possible financial benefits with management
- Responsible for the preparation of data request responses, and various management analyses
- Performs other tasks and special projects
- Assists in coordinating the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) management testing program ensuring coverage of critical processes for the full reporting year
- Follows up on identified deficiencies, ensuring appropriate and timely remediation of any issues
- Implements and supports financial processes across the businesses to improve efficiency; standardize work streams and reporting
- Rotates between finance teams as a contributing member during peak times of the year
- Supports financial reporting and quarterly close process
- Assists Internal Audit on various projects on an as needed basis
- Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned
- Provides guidance on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and financial instruments
- Conducts extensive research regarding the impact to financial statements and the organization of potential changes to accounting rules proposed by accounting standards setters and advises senior management regarding same
- Assists in the preparation of detailed documentation and memos on technical accounting issues and their resolutions
- Assists with the development, implementation, and communication of new policies and processes to comply with newly issued accounting standards
- Provides accounting guidance related to proposed transactions to ensure conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and organization policies and procedures
- Assists in the preparation and review of financial statements
- Provides accounting support for new transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, and ensuring proper accounting treatment
- Ensures that relevant accounting standards are appropriately and consistently applied
- Performs other tasks and special projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Four years' related accounting or financial analysis experience, preferably in a corporate accounting environment for Corporate Accounting & Reporting Analyst III
- Six years' related accounting or financial analysis experience, preferably in a corporate accounting environment for Corporate Accounting & Reporting Analyst IV
- Excellent analytical skills, organizational skills and a high degree of independent judgment and ingenuity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting matters to non-accounting stakeholders
- Thorough knowledge of accounting methods and procedures and applicable financial statement preparation methods and requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of corporate financial data
- Excellent human relations skills in dealing with associates, other departments, operating company personnel, external auditors, attorneys, and consultants
- Maintain a strong knowledge and understanding of financial / accounting impact of invoicing and accounts receivable and/or accounts payable transactions
- Self-motivated with the ability to accomplish multiple tasks within tight deadlines and the ability to work with minimum supervision
- Work at an advanced level with minimal supervision or specific instruction
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- CPA or professional certification preferred
- Construction accounting experience
