GitHub is the world’s leading platform for agentic software development, and they are seeking a Staff Product Manager to help shape the direction of the Copilot Intelligence Platform. The role involves partnering with various teams to set strategy, evaluate emerging capabilities, and drive architectural and product decisions for scaling Copilot's capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Shape what Copilot can do next- Work with frontier model labs, engineers, and product teams to evaluate emerging capabilities, decide what's worth bringing into GitHub, and shape how new model abilities translate into real developer features. Sit at the front edge of what the industry is building and turn it into product
- Set platform strategy- Own the product direction for a core slice of the Copilot Intelligence Platform. Set the strategy that enables the ambition of every product team building on top, balancing what we ship now with the long-term investments that determine how Copilot scales and evolves
- Think in systems- Reason about the platform as an interconnected whole: how model routing affects latency, how capacity decisions shape cost and availability, how evaluation systems feed back into product quality. Find the leverage points where platform investment unlocks the most value across GitHub's AI surface area
- Build for developers and for the teams who build with you- Build for the end-user developers whose experience depends on this platform, and for the integrators who build on top of it: both the internal GitHub product teams shipping Copilot surfaces and the external partners in our open-source and broader ecosystem. Understand the distinct needs of each and design a platform that serves them all well
- Ground strategy in data and lived experience- Proactively dig into usage, performance, and quality data to surface what's working, what's breaking, and where the next opportunity is. Use Copilot daily across the surfaces that rely on this platform so you understand firsthand how platform decisions show up in real developer workflows. Bring both the data and the lived experience into strategic debates
- Raise the ceiling on reliability and scale- Treat availability, latency, capacity, and developer tooling quality as core product metrics. Partner with engineering to keep raising that bar as the platform grows
- Partner and influence across a high-stakes stakeholder landscape.-Work closely with engineering, data science, and GitHub product teams to shape architectural and product decisions that span multiple orgs. Communicate with clarity and conviction up to senior executives across GitHub and Microsoft, where platform decisions shape the direction of every AI product we ship
Requirements:

- 3+ years experience building platform products or developer-facing applications
- Demonstrated expertise in how AI is transforming software development, with a proven track record of building or integrating AI-driven capabilities
- Experience influencing across broad organizations and working directly with enterprise customers and partners
- Track record of success working with engineering, design, finance, sales, customer success, and marketing
- Passion for GitHub, open source, and the opportunity to redefine how the world builds and secures software
