Mathematics Content Specialist – AI Research - Remote

The UVA VEC is seeking advanced mathematics experts to develop and evaluate high-quality academic assessment content for a cutting-edge AI research initiative. In this role, you will create and validate rigorous math problems that test deep conceptual understanding, helping build benchmark datasets that improve the reasoning capabilities of next-generation AI systems.

Responsibilities:

• Create original, challenging multiple-choice questions
• Define clear problem statements with complete information
• Assign difficulty levels (Undergraduate to Postgraduate)
• Develop one correct answer and multiple high-quality distractors
• Write step-by-step, well-structured solutions
• Provide credible academic references
• Review and refine existing questions for accuracy and clarity
• Ensure problems are rigorous, solvable, and unambiguous
• Improve wording, structure, and correctness where needed
• Assign difficulty ratings and document revisions
