Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking a Protection & Controls Engineer to support substation engineering projects. This role involves design review, engineering oversight, and technical package validation to ensure high-quality engineering execution while minimizing operational risk and outages.
Responsibilities:
- Review Protection & Controls design packages, engineering deliverables, schematics, 3-line drawings, and construction documentation for substation projects
- Support oversight and quality review of engineering work performed by EPC firms and supplemental engineering subcontractors
- Review EPC packets and construction turnover packages to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with utility standards
- Collaborate closely with a team of engineers to support active transmission and substation engineering initiatives
- Assist with technical review activities intended to reduce operational risk, prevent outages, and improve construction readiness
- Verify engineering documentation aligns with system requirements, relay configurations, and utility design standards
- Support review of relay applications, protection schemes, and substation control designs utilizing SEL relays and related technologies
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, and project teams to resolve drawing discrepancies, technical concerns, and documentation issues
- Utilize AutoCAD and engineering documentation tools to review and validate design deliverables as needed
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience supporting substation Protection & Controls engineering or design projects within an electric utility environment
- Strong understanding of substation P&C design packages, relay protection systems, and engineering drawing review processes
- Experience reviewing schematics, 3-line drawings, wiring diagrams, and construction turnover documentation
- Hands-on experience working with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories relays and related protection systems
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and engineering design review workflows
- Strong attention to detail, technical communication skills, and ability to identify design discrepancies or operational risks
