Quality Assurance Engineer - Data

The Judge Group is seeking a senior-level Data QA Engineer III to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and trustworthiness of enterprise data solutions. This role focuses on validating data pipelines, transformations, and reporting outputs while collaborating with Data Engineering and BI teams to support data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities:

• Translate data requirements into testable quality criteria in an Agile environment
• Design and maintain automated tests for ETL/ELT pipelines, transformations, and analytics outputs
• Write and optimize SQL-based data validations (counts, reconciliation, integrity, business rules)
• Build and maintain regression test suites and deterministic test datasets
• Investigate and reproduce data quality issues; perform lineage analysis and root cause identification
• Implement data observability checks for freshness, volume, anomalies, and schema drift
• Integrate test automation with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
• Track QA metrics and continuously improve data quality frameworks and processes
• Collaborate with engineers and BI partners; document standards and best practices
• Mentor team members and lead high-impact data quality initiatives

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
• Senior-level experience in data or backend QA (non-UI)
• Expert SQL skills; strong experience with Python, JavaScript, or C#
• Experience with data testing tools (e.g., Great Expectations, Cypress)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile practices
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
• Experience with data observability and monitoring solutions
