Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP is one of the most prestigious law firms in the world, known for handling complex legal issues. They are seeking a New Business Conflicts Clearance Analyst to support the conflicts clearance team by conducting conflicts checks and maintaining accurate records in the conflicts database.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews and analyzes conflicts reports to identify any potential conflicts of interest issues which require resolution
- Collaborates with other members of the New Business Conflict Clearance team, Conflicts Attorneys, and Office of the General Counsel to resolve potential ethical conflicts and facilitate the new matter opening process
- Communicates effectively with attorneys and staff to gather necessary information for conflicts checks, conflicts review and clarify any discrepancies in the iManage request form
- Validates the requirements for each conflict check with the requesting lawyer or secretary to ensure compliance with firm policies and legal standards
- Conducts corporate research using both internal and external resources to verify the accuracy of information and understand corporate relationships and structures
- Coordinates with the Client Accounting Department and other relevant departments to ensure the integrity and consistency of database information
- Provides coverage for department functions, including after-hours and weekend support as needed, ensuring continuous operation of conflicts resolution processes
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others
- Manages Firm resources responsibly
- Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies, and procedures
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
- Familiarity with conflicts database software, preferably iManage or Intapp, and a general understanding of the conflicts resolution process in a legal or professional services context
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, in communicating with Firm attorneys and staff
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and sound judgment, and to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
- Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years experience in new business conflicts analysis at an Am Law 200 firm is strongly preferred
- Experience using iManage or Intapp preferred
- Candidates with backgrounds in regulatory, audit, compliance, or risk review roles involving the analysis of client and matter information, strong attention to detail, and sound judgment in identifying and escalating potential issues
