Synchrony is a leading financial technology company focused on shaping the future of payments. They are seeking a Software Development Engineer - II to work on microservice APIs, participate in Agile processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance software solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in a cross-shore development team
- Review Pull requests and provide feedback to developers
- Owns and works with dev team on deliverables
- Control and improve the code quality in the team
- Implement culture of learning in the team
- Influence and collaborate to create amazing API’s
- Participate in Agile scrums with cross-functional teams
- Participate and contribute in Agile sprints including planning, daily standups, backlog grooming sessions and reviews
- Analyze production defects, troubleshoot systems, identify root cause and implement fixes
- Work with third party vendors to develop software and/or integrate their software into our products
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science a or related degree with 3 year modern application development experience (classroom or professional) OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED 5 years of experience with cloud native application development using Java
- Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required
- Familiarity building and consuming web services via SOAP and REST
- Java development experience
- Familiarity with common Java frameworks like Spring and Spring boot
- Familiarity with Jira and Bitbucket
- Familiarity with continuous integration environments
- Familiarity writing unit and integration tests
- Familiarity with JSON, REST and XML based web services
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical peers
- Strong cross-functional team player with the ability to work seamlessly across a matrix organization
- Desire to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence clients, team members, management and external groups
