In this role, you will contribute to the Web Platform team, enhancing the developer experience and productivity through innovative tools and frameworks while collaborating with various teams to improve software development processes.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute across the team’s surface areas to directly move our core metrics (developer experience, developer velocity, debuggability, performance, and reliability) while reducing cost and providing new functionality to help make our team’s vision, and that of our broader org, a reality
- Upcoming projects include modularizing our client observability libraries, code editor and Claude skills developer experience improvements, bundler enhancements, and improving CI debuggability
- Partner with Airbnb product teams to understand their pain points, pilot proposed solutions, and encourage adoption of tools and frameworks
- Collaborate with a wide variety of infrastructure teams as well as support product foundation teams as they build additional capabilities on top of the team’s offerings
- Participate in all phases of software development from architecture/design through implementation, testing, and on-call
- Support teammates in enabling code quality, operational excellence, and shared learning
Requirements:
- 2–4+ years of experience in a hands-on software engineering role, including frontend web development
- Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript
- Interest harnessing AI tools (like Claude Code and Codex) to modernize and expedite development practices
- Ability to communicate effectively and work closely with other engineering teams across complex interfaces
- Love of collaborating via code reviews and architecture discussions
- Interest in working with IDE infrastructure, such as: VS Code plugins or language servers, or Claude Code skills and MCP servers
- Experience (beyond configuration) working with bundlers, testing frameworks, editor integrations, frontend build/CI systems, observability tooling, or developer environments
