Scheduling Coordinator, Cardiac Surgeons

Role Overview

• Obtain insurance authorization from patient’s insurance company
• Coordinate patient referrals to specialist as requested by providers
• Enter and maintain accurate data entry of all referrals into database
• Verify all pertinent documentation for type of referral requested
• Provide appropriate clinical information to specialist
• Call patient with appointment information
• Document all stages of the referral in the appropriate database
• Maintain a professional and positive attitude with patients, providers, and coworkers

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience in an office environment and/or health care setting helpful
• Knowledge of practice management computer systems
• Ability to work independently and as a team
• Knowledge of general office machines and telephone systems
• Familiarity with identification of medical documents
• Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
• Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities
• Maintain high degree of discretion when dealing with confidential information
• Detail oriented
