Role Overview
Help set and execute multi-year procurement and category strategy for key equipment (modules, transformers, inverters, racking, and other major equipment).
Build and maintain long-term strategic supplier relationships that ensure cost competitiveness, quality, and reliability of supply.
Lead supplier selection, negotiation, and contract execution to secure optimal commercial terms.
Run Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and supplier performance metrics/scorecards to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
Structure and negotiate Master Supply Agreements (MSAs) and long-term, portfolio-scale procurement frameworks.
Contribute to domestic content strategy in coordination with project finance/tax and legal to support investment tax credits and secure and maintain compliance certifications.
Responsible for the equipment budget and savings targets.
Develop, refine, and govern procurement policies and procedures to improve efficiency, transparency, and communication.
Serve as senior owner of trade compliance for equipment sourcing.
Manage commodity risk (steel, copper, aluminum, etc.), advising on forward cost curves and budgetary impacts.
Ensure supply continuity through prequalification, supplier financial-health monitoring, allocation management, and contingency planning.
Ensure effective scheduling, tracking, and delivery of owner furnished equipment to meet construction timelines, including inventory, warehousing, staging, and laydown coordination.
Coordinate quality and factory acceptance testing (FAT)/source inspection and non-conformance resolution with Engineering.
Integrate procurement schedules and specifications into RFPs and EPC subcontracts, in partnership with the delivery teams.
Mentor, and develop the supply chain team and build the processes and governance that scale the function.
Elevate the team’s commercial and negotiation capability and alignment with procurement best practices.
Act as a strategic liaison between procurement and cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence, alignment, and efficiency.
Requirements
6-8 years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain, including demonstrated people-leadership (leading a team and/or developing other managers) and portfolio
or program-scale ownership.
Experience in renewables, power, construction, infrastructure, or a related industry; utility-scale solar or renewables strongly preferred.
Proven track record negotiating complex commercial transactions and long-term/master agreements, with emphasis on cost control, risk management, and supplier performance.
Experience with EPC contracts and logistics coordination for major equipment.
Trade-compliance depth relevant to solar: UFLPA/traceability, customs, and domestic content strategy for the ITC.
Strong financial acumen for pricing trends, commodity fluctuations, TCO/should-cost, budget ownership, and supply-chain risk.
Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent communication skills, able to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership.
Bachelor’s in business, supply chain, finance, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Preferred: MBA, ISM CPSM, or APICS/ASCM CPIM/CSCP.
