Manage daily workflow and job management, job assignments and priorities using Karbon Practice Management system (with assistance from the Director).
Monitor job progress and ensure work is completed within agreed timeframes.
Identify delays, bottlenecks or quality concerns and escalate matters where required.
Manage and support 1-2 offshore accountant team members with questions, technical and process guidance and day-to-day priorities.
Oversee the preparation, review and delivery process for client accounting and tax-related work, including reviewing ongoing bookkeeping and other accounting tasks,
Ensure client records, working papers and supporting documents are complete, accurate and well organised.
Maintain awareness of relevant Australian tax and accounting processes, escalating technical questions to the Director where required.
Onboarding of new clients into our systems and processes.
Client support and job management, providing day-to-day client contact via emails (shared with the Director as required).
Review and ensure client information requests are clear, complete, and followed up in a timely manner in accordance with internal and external deadlines.
Help continuously develop and improve processes and procedures, streamline workflows and enforce best practices and policies for scalable service delivery across our business.
Requirements
Minimum of 6 years of Australian bookkeeping, business services, and tax experience within an accounting firm environment
Strong understanding of Australian accounting principles, tax compliance and bookkeeping practices.
Experience in preparing financial statements, preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships
CPA qualified (or substantially progressed)
Highly experienced in Xero, Xero Payroll, XPM, and Karbon practice management system
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft 365 apps
Experience with Fathom reporting software, Active Workpapers (Business Fitness), Approval Max, Dext, BGL corporate compliance software, and ASIC filing processes
Excellent organizational and time management skills and a collaborative work style
Organized with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize your workload independently
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
Able to present financial information clearly and simply to non-financial stakeholders in Australia
Experience and confidence in using the ATO portal and managing ATO correspondence for clients
Keen interest and curiosity in technology, integrated workflows and apps, and increasing efficiency of processes and standardization
Experience leading or supervising a small team (3+ members) is strongly preferred
