Construct, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems, including overhead and underground lines
Install and repair electrical equipment such as street lighting and load control devices
Construct overhead and underground distribution lines based on engineering specifications, including setting poles, pulling cable, setting transformers, etc.
Install equipment such as transformers, capacitors, regulators, load control devices, meters, street lights, safe lights, etc.
Maintain and repair equipment such as checking and doing preventative maintenance; also involves using test equipment such as volt and amp meters to measure the performance of equipment
Respond to trouble calls when equipment fails and/or electrical service is interrupted
Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver's license
Military experience (preferred)
Certificate from Lineman's Training School or currently attending in a Lineman Training Program (preferred)
Experience in utility, electrical, telephone, cable tv, plumbing, tree trimming, building/construction, or cell towers (preferred)
Experience with law enforcement, fire department, farming, or fence building (preferred)
Experience with responding to natural disasters or emergency situations (storm response such as hurricanes, tornado, wind event, high water; emergency responses such as fires, auto accidents, etc.) (preferred)
