Role Overview
Reviews individual loan applications per product specific guidelines to evaluate a degree of risk involved
Verifies all application information for accuracy and completeness
Performs income analysis to calculate wages or self-employed income
Reviews the appraisal report for accuracy, completeness and compliance with HUD, VA or USDA housing standards
Completes required Government forms (VA Notice of Value, FHA Conditional commitment, etc.)
Takes action to resolve deficiencies according to agency standards and procedures
Escalates issues to the Agencies as necessary for resolution
Complies with regulations regarding approvals and declinations
Ensures the accuracy of HMDA data and FCRA and ECOA decision reasons on adverse actions
Underwrites loan applications according to appropriate guidelines
Approves loans up to a set loan authority
Advises the Loan Originator on proper loan structuring
Maintains certifications as required by FHA/VA
Completes other related duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
High School or GED
Minimum 5 years of job-related experience
Excellent project management skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
Ability to use general office equipment
Ability to use a personal computer and job-related software
Basic level in MS Word
Intermediate level in MS Excel
Basic level in MS PowerPoint
Ability to use industry-related software such as Desktop Underwriter, Loan Prospector, Clout, Zippy, eMagic, RMIC, MortgageBot, easyLender, etc. preferred
Must have at least 1 Government certification (FHA CHUMS number of VA SAR designation)
