Remove and disassembles cells and inspects parts to detect defects
Replace defective parts, reassembles battery, and fuses lead parts with a gas torch
Fill cells with acid solution and determines the specific gravity of the solution
Attach charger leads to battery posts and starts charger
Read meters and adjusts charge parameters to control time and flow of current through the battery
Operate a forklift to load and unload truck using safety techniques
Assist with the installation and/or removal of motive/reserve power batteries and/or chargers
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent; or industry related experience and/or training in Installation, Maintenance, and Repair; or equivalent combination of education and experience in Manufacturing and/or Production
A basic mechanical aptitude
Previous experience working with hand and power tools
Able and willing to operate a forklift
Able to read and comprehend manuals, procedures, and other written documents written in English.
A basic electrical understanding
The use of test equipment and reading schematics
Electrical experience in troubleshooting or repairs, i.e. auto, boat, truck
