Role Overview
- Remove and disassembles cells and inspects parts to detect defects
- Replace defective parts, reassembles battery, and fuses lead parts with a gas torch
- Fill cells with acid solution and determines the specific gravity of the solution
- Attach charger leads to battery posts and starts charger
- Read meters and adjusts charge parameters to control time and flow of current through the battery
- Operate a forklift to load and unload truck using safety techniques
- Assist with the installation and/or removal of motive/reserve power batteries and/or chargers
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent; or industry related experience and/or training in Installation, Maintenance, and Repair; or equivalent combination of education and experience in Manufacturing and/or Production
- A basic mechanical aptitude
- Previous experience working with hand and power tools
- Able and willing to operate a forklift
- Able to read and comprehend manuals, procedures, and other written documents written in English.
- A basic electrical understanding
- The use of test equipment and reading schematics
- Electrical experience in troubleshooting or repairs, i.e. auto, boat, truck
