Senior Data Engineer

Role Overview

• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the Enterprise Data & Analytics domain
• Design, build, and implement critical components of the enterprise data platform
• Identify development and support requirements and take ownership of large, complex design initiatives
• Collaborate directly with data stewards, data analysts, data engineers, enterprise architects, and business stakeholders
• Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning
• Develop data engineering solutions with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and Azure DevOps
• Develop ETL and data pipeline capabilities
• Implement Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
• Apply Test Driven Development methodology to all data solutions
• Lead the implementation of outcomes, recommendations, and designs from Data Governance and Enterprise Architecture
• Lead the migration of multidimensional cubes to tabular models
• Utilize Power BI to design, deploy, and visualize tabular cubes
• Perform data exploration and data profiling with tools such as Excel and Informatica
• Actively participate in making data architecture decisions
• Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to gain a working understanding of business requirements and operational processes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; Masters or MBA in related field preferred
• 7+ years’ experience with data engineering specifically in Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) concepts and processes, enterprise data warehouse capabilities, database principles, and other related tools and technologies; preferably strong in Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and/or Databricks
• 2+ years’ experience designing, implementing, and supporting cloud data solutions; Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Services, Azure Synapse, Azure Logic Apps, and Azure DevOps experience strongly preferred
• Advanced level experience with at least one RDBMS and query language such as T-SQL, PL/SQL, Spark SQL
• Advanced level experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data design
• Certifications within Azure such as Azure Fundamentals, Azure Data Engineer, Azure Data Scientist, and/or Azure DevOps Engineer preferred
• Familiarity with data science and analytics tools such as SAS, Tableau, Power BI
• Familiarity with multi-cloud data management and transformation platforms or tools such as Databricks, Snowflake etc.
• Experience in Agile, SAFe, and/or Scrum preferred
• Experience integrating with data quality, data catalog and data lineage tools preferred
• Previous leadership experience preferred
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred
• Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices
• Advanced proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Additional experience with pipeline development and leveraging Azure DevOps while working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Advanced ability to see the big picture and align projects with organizational goals
• Capable of leading and motivating cross-functional teams
• Expertise in resolving conflicts and addressing challenges as well as skilled at identifying and mitigating risks at the project level
• Proficient in governance patterns tied to intake, technical reviews and architectural compliance
• Advanced speaking and writing communication skills
• May require up to 25% travel
