As Legal Counsel (m/f/d), you will be the central point of contact for all legal matters at Berliner Verlag, with a particular focus on media and press law.
Provide legal advice to management and functional departments on all matters of media, press, copyright, personality and freedom-of-expression law, as well as corporate and contract law.
Provide legal support for editorial processes and digital media offerings, especially on press-law issues, publications, rights of reply/corrections, cease-and-desist claims, and questions of personality rights and data protection.
Independently draft, review and negotiate contracts (e.g., license, cooperation, content, service and commercialization agreements).
Provide legal support on corporate law matters such as incorporations, investments and reorganizations.
Support and provide legal oversight for internal projects and strategic business decisions, with a particular focus on developments in media law.
Monitor relevant legislative changes and case law in media law and translate them into practical measures within the company.
Work closely and in a trust-based manner with commercial, editorial and digital teams, and design and conduct trainings and workshops on media-law topics.
Requirements
Completed law degree (1st and 2nd German state examinations or equivalent qualification)
Several years of professional experience as an attorney or in-house counsel, ideally at a media company or at a law firm specializing in media law
Solid knowledge of media, press, copyright and contract law; knowledge of corporate law is an advantage
Experience providing legal support for editorial and digital business models
Structured, independent and solution-oriented working style with a strong commercial understanding
Strong communication skills, negotiation ability and enjoyment of working with interdisciplinary teams
Native-level German language skills and good English skills
