Role Overview
- Investigating and adjusting property and casualty claims, both residential and commercial, with little to no supervision
- Handling complex losses locally unassisted up to designated authority
- Examining claim form and other records to determine insurance coverage
- Interviewing, telephoning, or corresponding with claimants and witnesses regarding claims
- Consulting police and hospital records and inspecting property damage to determine extent of company's liability
- Estimating cost of repair, replacement, or compensation
- Preparing reports of findings and negotiating settlements with claimants
- Recommending litigation by legal department when settlements cannot be negotiated
- Attending litigation hearings
- Revising case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs
- Assisting in preparing loss experience report to help determine profitability and calculating adequate future rates
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a property adjuster writing estimates in Xactimate (Symbility experience a plus!)
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
- Must have earned the IIA-AIC designation and be actively pursuing another professional insurance designation
- Appropriate state adjuster license is required
