Supporting a wide variety of projects in the design of stormwater systems, including pits and pipes, open channels, culverts and water quality assets
Undertaking hydrological and hydraulic assessments for projects from concept phase through to detailed design phase and construction support
Building and using models in tools such as 12d, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, DRAINS, TuFlow or ORD, with close support from senior specialists
Assist with preparing design calculations, flooding assessments, drawings, specifications and technical reports that clearly communicate the stormwater solution
Working with other disciplines (Energy, Roads, Bridges, Geotechnical, Environment, Digital) to integrate drainage outcomes into the broader project design
Assist liaising with State Authorities (Sydney Water, TfNSW, Sydney Trains etc.), Contractors, utility stakeholders and the like, to achieve approvals and ensure designs meet standards and client expectations
Contributing to continuous improvement of our stormwater tools, templates and digital workflows, including opportunities for automation.
Requirements
A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related discipline)
Roughly 1-4 years’ experience in drainage, flooding, water quality or civil design, ideally on water, energy, transport or land development projects, or an adjacent experience that you can leverage to bring our projects to life with
Working knowledge of Australian standards, Austroads guidance and (ideally) TfNSW or Sydney Water design requirements
Some experience with any individual design software, such as 12d, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, DRAINS ORD, TuFlow or bring something new that you are using and let’s chat
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to quality and constructability
Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document and explain design decisions
An interest in sustainability, water quality and climate resilience, and a desire to work towards Chartered Engineer status over time.
