Clinical Interpreter

Role Overview

• Assist English and Spanish speaking patients with Medicaid applications.
• Major responsibility is processing Medicaid applications for our Spanish speaking patients who need financial assistance.
• Proficiency in verification of Medicaid application.
• Increases knowledge of Medicaid categories; DHS programs and UAMS internal programs.
• Beginning understanding of Medicaid policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or High School diploma plus 4 years formal interpreting experience
• Able to follow oral and written instructions and communicate with others effectively.
• Strong computer/basic keyboard skills, telephone skills, and general knowledge of office machines including printers.
• Excellent customer relations skills.
• Two years of experience interpreting and translating, preferably in a medical setting, including one year medical, Medicaid, and clerical experience
• Experience in healthcare insurance and billing.
• Knowledge in advanced medical terminology and medical coding.
• Oral and written fluency in English and Spanish.
