Role Overview
Lead end-to-end grooming of business-initiated reporting requests, transforming loosely defined asks into structured, actionable requirements.
Facilitate detailed intake sessions with business stakeholders, clients, or vendor partners to clarify business objectives, metrics, success criteria, dependencies, and delivery expectations.
Assess request quality, completeness, technical feasibility, and downstream operational impact, ensuring readiness before entering development pipelines.
Break down complex reporting needs into well-defined user stories, requirements packages, support items, or backlog entries.
Partner with stakeholders to prioritize requests based on business value, client impact, risk, and effort.
Surface opportunities to convert recurring requests into standardized reporting assets, self-service solutions, or reusable file/report offerings.
Lead full lifecycle business analysis activities, including planning, elicitation, documentation, validation, and communication of requirements.
Ensure clear traceability from business need to requirement definition to report solution.
Define and document data logic, business rules, file/report specifications, and calculation methodologies for reporting solutions.
Validate requirements with stakeholders to ensure alignment prior to development and support user acceptance testing to confirm accuracy and usability.
Partner with production support, operations, and technical teams to investigate issues, identify trends, and recommend process or reporting improvements.
Translate business needs into standardized, scalable reporting solutions, minimizing one-off or redundant requests.
Identify opportunities to consolidate reports, introduce reusable data assets, improve consistency in KPIs and definitions.
Align reporting requests with broader enterprise data, reporting, and governance frameworks.
Contribute to defining reporting architecture, data relationships, and cross-functional metrics alignment.
Continuously improve the reporting intake and grooming process, driving efficiency, transparency, and quality.
Identify trends in incoming requests to recommend: Automation opportunities and standard dashboards or self-service solutions.
Ensure efficient handoff from business analysis to development teams.
Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and analytics/data teams.
Communicate complex technical and data concepts in clear, business-friendly language.
Influence stakeholders to refine and prioritize requests in alignment with enterprise goals.
Drive alignment across cross-functional teams on reporting definitions and outcomes.
Mentor junior analysts on best practices in requirements gathering, grooming, and reporting analysis.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
5+ years of experience in business analysis, reporting, analytics, production support, or related business systems environments.
Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting requirements for reporting solutions, data exchanges, system enhancements, or operational support needs.
Strong experience facilitating cross-functional discussions with business, operations, and technical stakeholders.
Experience assessing issue trends, identifying root causes, and recommending practical process improvements.
