Manage & support Structural & Mechanisms Tooling Engineers on all tooling and tooling build timelines (Tool Tracker/TLDB)
Ensure consistently high-quality components are produced on time and cost effectively
Ensure the most up to date technologies are utilized to continuously improve products
Manage and lead Magna’s Center of Excellence (C.O.E.) to provide best practices in the metal forming section
Maintain and improve documents on the C.O.E.
Manage and lead new tooling/fixture buy off at vendors
Assist production assembly tooling when required
Analyze and approve tool strip layouts for optimization of material & forming simulations
Support all S.P. divisions in North America
Manage tooling database (TLDB) with tooling engineers for accuracy
Acts as technical contact for vendors on tooling issues
Develop tooling progress reports
Coordinate FMEA on all new tooling
Ensure PPAP’s are achieved on time
Approve and sign-off on tooling and gauges using the Die/check fixture Validation Check list (DVD)
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Manufacturing, Engineering or Community College graduate technical and/or a certified apprenticeship in tool & die/ mold making or equivalent
Minimum of five (5) years manufacturing experience in the automotive industry
Familiar with metal fabricating, assembly processes and related tooling
Strong communication skills verbal, written, and technical presentations, within multi-cultural environments
Team-oriented approach to problem solving
Demonstrated planning and system implementation ability
Proficiency in related computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, VISI)
Ability to travel globally with a valid passport
Knowledge of progressive dies, transfer dies, blank forming, tube forming, roll forming
Capability and knowledge of design in tooling
Knowledge of laser/mig tooling
Advanced GD&T
Effective communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
