Supporting the chief editor in the day-to-day running of the journal.
Handling original research papers and working closely with other editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peer review.
Supporting the chief editor in shaping and implementing the journal’s editorial strategy.
Liaising with editors at other journals in the Nature Portfolio family and with experts in the international scientific community.
Commissioning Reviews and Comment articles and writing Editorials.
Ensuring Production receives manuscripts in an appropriate and complete state.
Other tasks as required.
Requirements
A PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
Previous experience coordinating peer review and making independent manuscript decisions
A genuine passion for scientific communication and promoting rigor and transparency in reporting research
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be fluent in English (written and spoken)
Strong workload management and organisational skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Thorough knowledge of the scientific community and its needs
