About this role
Role Overview
Manage complex multi-state personal property tax engagements while serving as the primary point of contact for clients.
Review and approve personal property tax returns, renditions, assessments, tax bills, and appeal filings for accuracy and completeness.
Provide strategic guidance on property tax compliance, valuation methodologies, appeal opportunities, and risk mitigation strategies.
Oversee preparation and timely filing of personal property tax returns across various jurisdictions.
Direct and manage property tax appeal processes, including negotiations with taxing authorities.
Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and conduct research related to property tax compliance matters.
Ensure proper tracking and reporting of assessment notices, tax bills, acquisitions, disposals, and asset classifications.
Review prior year tax protest results and identify opportunities for process improvement and tax savings.
Lead, mentor, and develop associates, senior associates, and managers within the property tax practice.
Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management initiatives.
Drive process improvements related to compliance workflows, reporting, and technology utilization.
Utilize PTMS and related systems to enhance workflow management and operational efficiency.
Support strategic planning initiatives and collaborate with other service lines on special projects.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited college/university; CMI preferred.
5+ years of property tax experience with client management responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of property valuation, tax compliance, and appeal hearings.
Familiarity with multi-state local appraisal districts.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong leadership, organizational, and project management abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Detail-oriented with strong research and negotiation skills.
Experience with PTMS required.
