Role Overview
Conduct thorough market research to identify requirements for transit signage hardware and software.
Leverage advanced AI tools (e.g. natural language processing, machine learning models, generative AI) to gather insights, analyze trends, and predict evolving customer needs.
Assist in defining and documenting product features and specifications based on research findings.
Support cross-functional teams by synthesizing research into actionable recommendations and contributing to strategy discussions.
Deliver a comprehensive report on market opportunities within the transit signage space, detailing gaps and potential growth areas.
Identify emerging technologies, standards, and competitor offerings relevant to passenger information systems.
Develop an annotated dataset or knowledge base using AI tools to support informed product decisions.
Confidently present findings to leadership and product development stakeholders, helping to shape product direction.
Perform qualitative and quantitative customer research: surveys, interviews, and user feedback collection.
Utilize AI-driven research platforms (such as ChatGPT, text analytics suites, and custom machine learning classifiers) to unearth information on market segments, competitor products, adoption patterns, and pricing models.
Summarize and visualize data findings in clear written reports, slide decks, and dashboards.
Propose suggestions and improvements to Luminator’s product roadmap based on research insights and actionable recommendations.
Collaborate effectively with product managers, engineers, designers, and marketing teams to execute research tasks and integrate findings into the product development lifecycle.
Stay up to date with industry trends, signage innovations, and relevant standards (e.g. GTFS, NTCIP) to ensure our solutions remain cutting edge.
Requirements
Current enrollment in a relevant degree program (Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, etc.)
This internship is ideal for a third‑year (junior) college student ready to apply their coursework in a real‑world setting.
Interest or experience in public transit, transportation technology, or related fields.
Familiarity with AI tools, basic coding/scripting (Python or R), and data analysis methods.
Strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
