Provides direction and leadership for delivery of services in the Sterile Processing department.
Plans and implements budgets, monitors productivity reports and collaborates with other leaders to facilitate favorable financial performance.
Plays an integral role in departmental operations, including but not limited to; recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, assigning work, evaluating, rewarding and disciplining.
Ensures that all surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, inspected, assembled, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed and tracked in a quality / timely manner throughout the hospital.
Works independently with little or no supervision.
Qualified to train others in Sterile Processing.
Serves as a resource to Sterile Processing customers.
Develop and lead procedures and processes that allow SEIRMC to meet accreditation and regulatory standards.
Requirements
H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
One Year Certificate from College or Tech School Certified tech or similar program Required
Associate’s Degree (AA) Leadership or Healthcare related Preferred
4-6 years Experience in sterile processing to include decontamination, assemble, sterilization and storage Preferred
1-3 years Previous leadership experience Preferred
Certification in sterile processing management or healthcare related program Preferred
Proficiency in computer skills
Proficiency in clinical decision making and critical thinking
Demonstrates current knowledge in national standards
Knowledge of instrument tracking system SPM. Sterile Processing Distribution Tech Required
