Manager – Sterile Processing

Role Overview

• Provides direction and leadership for delivery of services in the Sterile Processing department.
• Plans and implements budgets, monitors productivity reports and collaborates with other leaders to facilitate favorable financial performance.
• Plays an integral role in departmental operations, including but not limited to; recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, assigning work, evaluating, rewarding and disciplining.
• Ensures that all surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, inspected, assembled, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed and tracked in a quality / timely manner throughout the hospital.
• Works independently with little or no supervision.
• Qualified to train others in Sterile Processing.
• Serves as a resource to Sterile Processing customers.
• Develop and lead procedures and processes that allow SEIRMC to meet accreditation and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• One Year Certificate from College or Tech School Certified tech or similar program Required
• Associate’s Degree (AA) Leadership or Healthcare related Preferred
• 4-6 years Experience in sterile processing to include decontamination, assemble, sterilization and storage Preferred
• 1-3 years Previous leadership experience Preferred
• Certification in sterile processing management or healthcare related program Preferred
• Proficiency in computer skills
• Proficiency in clinical decision making and critical thinking
• Demonstrates current knowledge in national standards
• Knowledge of instrument tracking system SPM. Sterile Processing Distribution Tech Required
