Role Overview
Develop and lead grassroots organizing and community mobilization strategies aligned with UJA’s advocacy, activism, and engagement priorities
Build, grow, and sustain networks of volunteers, organizers, activists, ambassadors, influencers, and community leaders across the Greater Toronto Jewish community
Lead large-scale community activation efforts related to advocacy campaigns, civic engagement initiatives, public affairs efforts, crisis response activities, and community priorities
Recruit, train, mentor, and support volunteer organizers and emerging leaders capable of mobilizing and engaging their own networks
Develop and implement engagement frameworks, organizing infrastructure, leadership pipelines, and volunteer mobilization strategies to strengthen long-term community capacity
Build strategic partnerships and collaborative relationships with schools, campuses, synagogues, community organizations, advocacy groups, and external stakeholders
Support and guide the execution of trainings, rallies, engagement initiatives, public actions, educational opportunities, and grassroots campaigns
Track engagement metrics, campaign outcomes, volunteer participation, and mobilization effectiveness to inform strategy and decision-making
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, community partners, volunteers, and leadership stakeholders to advance organizational priorities and engagement objectives
Serve as a visible leader and representative of UJA within community mobilization, activism, and engagement initiatives
Requirements
Postsecondary education in Political Science, Public Affairs, Communications, Community Development, Nonprofit Management, Jewish Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field preferred
Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in grassroots organizing, political campaigns, advocacy, activism, public affairs, civic engagement, community relations, or related fields
Proven success in recruiting, training, coaching, mentoring, and leading volunteers, organizers, activists, campaign teams, ambassadors, or community leaders
Strong understanding of organizing methodologies, volunteer engagement strategies, grassroots activism, and movement-building principles
Strong leadership presence with exceptional interpersonal, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to motivate, influence, and inspire action among diverse audiences
Experience working with community organizations, Hillel, campus leadership, advocacy organizations, public affairs initiatives, or Jewish communal institutions considered a strong asset
Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead through ambiguity, and operate effectively within a fast-paced, high-profile environment
Proficiency with CRM systems, engagement databases, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite considered an asset.
