Lead end-to-end strategy for complex coverage issues and litigation matters, including investigation, exposure assessment, reserve adequacy, and resolution planning
Drive litigation management with internal and external counsel, including mediations and trials as needed; negotiate complex settlements that balance risk and business objectives
Prepare executive-level reporting and lead discussions with senior leadership, customers, and key stakeholders on high-profile matters, trends, and emerging case law
Serve as a technical leader—staying current on commercial insurance laws and regulations and ensuring alignment with company guidelines and fair claim practices
Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives sponsored by the CTCO/Chief Claims Officer to strengthen complex-claims capability and operating discipline
Partner with Claims, Underwriting, Legal, and the broader Technical Claims Office to align priorities, deliverables, and decision frameworks
Develop and deliver targeted technical training and coaching to strengthen coverage and complex-claims capability
Requirements
J.D. required
10+ years of experience as an attorney and/or claims professional with deep expertise in complex coverage issues, high-exposure claims, and coverage litigation
Proven ability to partner with and influence claim executives and senior stakeholders
Comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with sound judgment and strong prioritization
Executive-level communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills across insureds, brokers, counsel, and internal business partners
Ability to obtain and maintain required insurance adjuster licenses
Self-directed, highly accountable, and able to deliver under pressure
Strong analytical skills—able to synthesize complex facts and present crisp recommendations
Deep knowledge of claim handling guidelines, best practices, and fair claim practices across jurisdictions and lines
Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, organization, and time-management skills
Collaborative, with the ability to work independently and lead through influence
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and analytics/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)
