Role Overview
Design, develop, and test Embedded Software (Firmware), platforms and systems that control safety critical functions for the BWRX-300 Small Module Reactor
Prepare requirement specifications and design specifications
Develop embedded firmware and application software
Perform module and integrated testing
Create all associated documentation
Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks
Work with the technical leader to establish an effective work plan, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements and work processes
Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures
Manage time effectively to provide quality deliverables within the expected project timeline
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university or college
6 years of experience in embedded software development
Knowledge of common FPGA languages and software development tools (Version control, IDE’s, Debuggers, etc.)
Knowledge and experience with common HDL languages (Verilog, System Verilog) and PLD/FPGA development tools (Quartus, Vivado, ModelSim, Questa, etc.)
Experience in nuclear design or equivalent highly regulated industry
Competency in industry standards (IEEE, IEC, IPC)
Competency in modeling and test data collection tools
Strong verbal communication skills
Strong technical writing skills with focus on requirements and design documents
