Director of Engineering – Last Mile Delivery, Gig Platform

Role Overview

• Lead multiple teams of engineers and partner with Product, Data Science, and Operations teams.
• Manage, mentor, and develop engineers and engineering managers.
• Oversee technical design, implementation, and operation of highly available solutions.
• Establish a vision and roadmap to fulfill with speed, quality, and efficiency.
• Provide visionary leadership and management to engineering teams.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain a technical roadmap and partner closely with operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management and data science to solve interesting problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or more advanced degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related discipline; or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of software development experience, preferably building customer-facing products and services.
• 5+ years of experience leading highly effective software engineering teams.
• Strong technical background with deep knowledge of software development methodologies, architectures, and technologies.
• Fundamental understanding of logistics, delivery scaling, or identity and onboarding platforms.
• Must have experience designing and delivering distributed, highly available, large scale, high performing applications in an agile environment.
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans, drive alignment between technology efforts and business objectives.
• Demonstrated excellent communications, interpersonal skills, and the ability to inspire engineering teams, manage performance, and drive results.
• Must have experience managing budgets (including vendors), operational plans, engineering priorities, and performance expectations for teams.
