Serve as a SALT subject matter expert for clients within the financial services industry, including asset managers, banks, insurance companies, private credit, fintech, and other financial institutions
Lead SALT compliance and consulting engagements addressing complex multistate tax issues unique to financial services organizations, including state and local income tax compliance reviews, income sourcing, apportionment, and nexus considerations
Advise clients on state tax implications of financial products, services, and revenue streams, including fee-based income, investment structures, and intercompany transactions
Provide technical guidance on state income/franchise, sales/use, and other indirect tax matters impacting financial institutions, including evolving regulatory and compliance expectations
Support clients in navigating state tax considerations related to emerging financial models, including fintech platforms, digital payments, and alternative investment structures
Conduct nexus and filing footprint analyses for multistate and highly regulated financial services organizations operating across jurisdictions
Assist with audit defense, controversy matters, and voluntary disclosures specific to financial services and institutional clients
Monitor and communicate developments in state taxation impacting financial institutions, and translate those changes into actionable client guidance
Partner with firm leadership to expand CBIZ’s SALT presence within the financial services sector, including identifying new service offerings and market opportunities
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required
8 years experience in public accounting or related field
5 years supervisory
Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
