Role Overview
- Create accurate 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks
- Produce fabrication-ready shop drawings, assemblies, and BOMs for architectural metalwork projects
- Translate architectural and engineering drawings into practical fabrication details
- Design and detail components using mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium
- Apply practical fabrication knowledge to cutting, folding, welding, assembly, and installation requirements
- Identify and resolve design clashes, dimensional issues, and constructability risks before production
- Coordinate closely with project managers, fabrication teams, and site teams to ensure technical accuracy and buildability
- Maintain organised and accurate project documentation
- Support projects during fabrication and installation, assisting with issue resolution when required
- Contribute to internal design reviews and QA processes
Requirements
- Strong SolidWorks experience
- Experience in fabrication, sheet metal, construction, architectural metalwork, or similar practical design environments
- Good understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify issues before they reach production
- Ability to work with incomplete or evolving information and proactively resolve problems
- Practical mindset with focus on buildability and real-world outcomes
- Good communication and coordination skills across design, production, and project teams
- Reliable, organised, and takes ownership of their work
Preferred Qualifications:
- Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Architecture, or related field
- Experience producing fabrication/shop drawings for custom metalwork or construction projects
- Experience working with architectural or construction documentation
