Role Overview
Lead or participate in moderately complex lifecycle initiatives and support tasks related to fiduciary, charitable, estate, gift, and inheritance tax requirements and tax return preparation
Maintain databases which track the preparation of tax and information returns, receipt, and disposition of tax notices from federal and state taxing authorities, and confirmation and receipt of fiduciary tax refunds
Independently resolve moderately complex issues and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development
Collaborate and facilitate coordination with trust and estate administrative officers, midlevel trust and trust directors to resolve issues and achieve goals
Manage expertise in the following operational processes including reviewing and/or validating Forms W-8 and W-9 for withholding tax purposes
Resolve moderately complex escalated issues with internal and external accountants and clients to complete the tax compliance process
Research moderately complex business risks, influence policies, enhance customer satisfaction, and review time sensitive documents and transaction requests
Exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
Contribute to overall effectiveness of the team and collaborate with colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goal
Requirements
4+ years of Securities Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
4+ years of fiduciary, charitable, and information tax return reporting and preparation experience
2+ years of Operational Risk and Control Management experience
Demonstrated knowledge of estate, gift, and Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax (GSTT)
Understanding of US state trust taxation issues for a national financial institution and exposure to SEI Trust 3000
Effective problem solving, decision-making, organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
Ability to work independently, proactively, innovatively and creatively while expressing sound judgement
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or Enrolled Agent or equivalent certification
A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or other business-related field
