Own the corporate Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Program, including the governance model, operating cadence, and cross-division alignment
Define and maintain corporate requirements and processes for product safety and market access (e.g., SEMI S2/S8/S14, CE/UKCA, NRTL/CB Scheme, EMC, Machinery/MD/2006/42/EC or successor, and other country-specific regulations as applicable)
Take ownership of the implementation of KLA’s Machinery Regulation initiative, including interpretation of requirements, internal readiness planning, cross-division execution alignment, and tracking actions to closure
Provide oversight of division execution for evaluations, testing, certifications, and technical construction files; ensure timely closure of findings and corrective actions
Define expectations for compliance records, document retention, and technical file consistency (in alignment with document control and division teams) to support certifications, audits, and customer inquiries
Drive corporate-level risk management for product safety: define escalation pathways, maintain decision logs and risk acceptance criteria, and escalate issues and drive closure with cross-functional stakeholders
Manage KLA’s product safety incident reporting system, including intake, triage, investigation coordination, corrective/preventive action tracking, and trend reporting
Provide input to KLA’s PLC process to ensure appropriate product safety and regulatory compliance gates, deliverables, and requirements are embedded in the product release path
Provide oversight to ensure divisional product safety and compliance activities and related programs adhere to corporate policy, including periodic reviews and escalation of non-conformances
Establish an audit-ready compliance posture by defining evidence expectations, conducting periodic self-assessments/internal reviews, and driving corrective action plans to closure
Establish and report program metrics (e.g., certification lead time, finding closure rate, audit readiness, field issue trends) and lead continuous improvement initiatives
Partner with KLA’s Environmental Product Compliance team, Supplier/Procurement, Quality, Legal, and Engineering to ensure clear interfaces and handoffs between product safety/market access activities and environmental compliance requirements
Own external engagement and representation: participate in SEMI and other industry/standards bodies; monitor emerging regulations and standards changes and translate them into actionable internal requirements
Manage and optimize relationships with third-party test labs, NRTLs, notified bodies, and consultants; ensure consistent scope, quality, and cost control
Develop and deliver training and communication to improve awareness and adoption of corporate product safety processes across KLA
Coordinate responses to regulator and customer product safety/market access inquiries, including evidence packages, declarations, and alignment with Legal/Quality communications as needed
Support customer and field needs by enabling accurate responses to safety/compliance inquiries and coordinating evidence packages as required
