assists the Coding Managers with oversight and evaluation of coding functions including efficiency, accuracy, continuing education needs and overall coding quality
determines individual education needs of coders and collaborates with department manager and CDCI Coding Trainer and Educator to develop appropriate training materials
oversees the administration of the education plan/training necessary, evaluating the effectiveness of the education plan or performance improvement plans
Requirements
Associates Degree in Health Information Management, Nursing or a Medical Coding or healthcare related field (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience)
Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Nursing or related field preferred
A minimum of at least one of the following: CCS (certified Coding Specialist) CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist-Professional) CPC (certified Professional Coder) CPC-H (Certified Professional Coder-Hospital Outpatient; RHIT, RHIA) Minimum of two preferred
Minimum of five years of coding experience in either inpatient or outpatient coding in an acute hospital setting
Coding experience in teaching, tertiary facility preferred
Experience as a coding validator preferred
Supervisory experience highly desirable
