Senior Backend Engineer

Role Overview

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into well-designed features for our mobile app.
• Design, develop, and test complex features, prioritizing scalability, performance, and a smooth user experience.
• Own the end-to-end technical delivery of multi-sprint initiatives, from architectural design through production release and post-launch monitoring.
• Make architectural decisions that improve modularization, maintainability, and long-term system reliability.
• Create reusable, scalable components and establish patterns that become standards for the team.
• Optimize performance to ensure quick and responsive user interactions, even under high-load scenarios.
• Implement robust security measures for data protection and compliance.
• Improve observability by defining monitoring standards, dashboards, alerts, and failure-handling strategies.
• Lead refactoring efforts to reduce technical debt and increase development velocity.
• Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines, automation, and testing practices to ensure safe and efficient releases.
• Conduct rigorous testing and define quality standards for complex features.
• Integrate mobile apps with backend APIs in coordination with backend engineers, ensuring stable and well-defined interfaces.
• Identify risks early, propose mitigation strategies, and balance trade-offs between delivery speed and long-term maintainability.
• Participate in roadmap discussions by assessing technical feasibility, dependencies, and architectural impact.
• Act as a technical reference within the team, guiding design discussions and resolving complex engineering challenges.
• Participate in code reviews to uphold quality, provide coaching-level feedback, and elevate team standards.
• Support cross-functional troubleshooting, lead incident resolution when needed, and ensure long-term fixes are implemented.
• Mentor and support other engineers to raise overall team capability and engineering excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 6+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong expertise in PHP (Laravel) or similar backend frameworks (Java, Python).
• Deep understanding of OOP, design patterns, SOLID principles, and system design.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL, caching, and queueing systems (Redis).
• Familiarity with AWS, serverless, or containerized architectures.
• Experience working in Agile teams and tools such as Jira.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to mentor engineers.
• Passion for building high-quality, scalable, and maintainable systems.
