About this role
Role Overview
A BI Engineer assists with the creation of repeatable reporting assets.
Design and develop BI reporting and data platforms.
Creates the development of user-facing data visualization and presentation tools.
Work on the development of data retrieval and data management.
Support in ensuring that the BI data assets of the organization are aligned with the organization in achieving its strategic goals.
Help implement effective business analytics practices to enhance decision making, efficiency, and performance.
Assist with technology improvements to ensure continuous enhancements of the core BI platform.
Ability to perform complex data analysis using advanced SQL skills and Excel.
Communicate with non-technical business users to gather specific requirements for reports and BI solutions.
Provide maintenance support for existing BI applications and reports.
Present work when requested and participate in knowledge-sharing sessions with team members.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
3+ years of experience in BI/ Data Warehouse domain developing BI solutions and data analysis tasks using MSBI suites.
Strong proficiency in Power BI: building reports, dashboards, DAX, and Power Query (M).
Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Lakehouses, Dataflows Gen2, Direct Lake capabilities, and PowerAutomate.
Experience with Azure Data Services: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, or similar.
Hands-on experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
Knowledge of Advanced SQL for data manipulation and performance tuning.
Experience implementing ETL / ELT pipelines.
Ability to work with both relational and cloud-based data sources.
Healthcare industry experience with exposure to authorizations / claims / eligibility and patient clinical data is preferred.
Experience with Python, Spark, or Databricks for data engineering or transformation is preferred.
Familiarity with DevOps / GitRepo for BI, including deploy is preferred.
