About this role
Role Overview
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and shared libraries primarily in Java
- Contribute to the evolution of a microservices-based platform
- Own services end-to-end, including Development, Testing, Deployment, Monitoring, and support
- Partner closely with a Product Owner to deliver value through scrum-based sprint planning
- Raise the engineering bar by writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code
- Actively participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and solution trade-off decisions
- Mentor and collaborate with teammates in a small, high-trust team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong, hands-on experience with Java
- Solid understanding of Microservices architecture
- RESTful APIs
- Distributed systems concepts
- Experience building and running applications in the cloud (AWS preferred)
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
- Automated testing strategies
- Source control and trunk-based development
- Proven ability to take ownership of complex systems
- Ability to make sound technical decisions
- Balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability
