smmt is a fast-growing data and adtech startup with a mission to democratize how businesses unlock and monetize their first-party data. The Business Development Representative will be responsible for calling a pre-qualified list of prospects to set meetings and contribute to the company's growth.

Responsibilities:

Call through a pre-qualified list of prospects across our core verticals — the research and targeting are already done for you
Open conversations with founders, owners, and revenue leaders, quickly framing how smmt turns their existing customer data into recurring revenue
Set discovery and demo calls between qualified prospects and a smmt representative — this is the core metric you’re paid on
Handle common objections and earn the meeting using the scripts, sequences, and playbooks we provide
Keep clean, accurate notes in our CRM (HubSpot/Apollo) so every booked meeting is properly logged and credited
Hit your numbers — dials, conversations, and meetings set — and iterate weekly with the growth team to sharpen what’s working

Requirements:

You like making outbound calls — you're comfortable on the phone and you don't flinch at a full call block
Resilient and self-motivated — you can think on your feet, take a no in stride, and keep the energy up across dozens of dials a day
Naturally persuasive — you can explain a value prop simply and listen for the opening that turns a call into a meeting
Self-directed — as a commission-only contractor, you manage your own schedule and hold yourself to a number
Equipped with a reliable computer, headset, and quiet space to make calls from anywhere in the U.S
Prior experience in B2B sales, SDR/BDR, telemarketing, appointment setting, or call-center work is a plus — but hunger and coachability matter more than a résumé
