Design, build, and maintain software systems that automate key quantum lab processes and orchestrate interactions between lab instruments, control systems, and data pipelines.
Collaborate closely with physicists and hardware engineers to understand lab workflows and deliver tailored software tools.
Develop and maintain internal tools and dashboards to visualize equipment status, monitor system health, log experimental runs, and track lab activity in real time.
Enhance system observability to support rapid debugging of issues and minimize operational downtime, including clear and actionable error reporting for end users.
Write clear, maintainable, and testable code in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Deploy and support lab software throughout its lifecycle, including updates, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Diagnose and resolve various software issues across the software stack, bringing in appropriate support from the broader software team as needed.
Contribute to improving CI/CD workflows, supporting automated testing and build processes.
Help define and evolve software development best practices, including version control standards, code review processes, and issue tracking conventions.
Occasional travel up to 10% may be expected.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree minimum
Minimum 4+ years of graduate and/or industry experience developing software in a laboratory or research environment.
Minimum 2+ years of experience with Python, C++, or similar object-oriented programming language.
Minimum 1+ years of experience developing software that communicates with physical hardware via device interfaces, control protocols, and/or instrumentation libraries.
Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
